Hands Full of Ashes by Kim Hotzon

I've got another great author to introduce you to today. Meet Kim Hotzon, a fellow Soul Mate author. Her debut novel, Hands Full of Ashes, hit Amazon yesterday and is already climbing up the ranks.

I cannot even fathom losing my Mr., let alone have the strength to move on from it and travel around the world alone to exotic locales. What a great premise for this story.

I didn't know it at the time, but apparently Kim is quite an ingenious gal. To celebrate her release, she has scattered all around the internet, or at least on every blog she's visiting, short excerpts and fun facts about Rwanda. Here is the short excerpt she left with me. 

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK 

Somewhere, in another world, a faraway place, it was snowy and beautiful. Shreds of her memory hung loose, a coil of wire unspooled. She was in an alpine forest. The Black Tusk was there, across the valley between the mountains. Her hands were cold and they held something, a bottle or a jar. Olivia saw tiny, silver flashes, lifting and flying above.

Her arms reached out, trying to grab them. Her gravity shifted, and she knew she was falling down, into the valley far below. Is that you Jan? Where are you, Jack? Where are you going? Don't leave me here! The faces of the two men hovered above her, and she desperately reached out to both of them as she slipped over the edge.

Rwandan Fact #5: There are more women parliamentarians in Rwanda than anywhere else in the world. 56% of the government's parliament in Rwanda is female. That beats out even Sweden!

Way to go Rwanda! Gotta love girl power.

ABOUT KIM HOTZON

Born in beautiful British Columbia, Kim developed a passion for writing at an early age. Her interest in people led her all over the globe, including a two year stay in Japan and a humanitarian trip to Rwanda.

She loves to write romance stories with a twist, usually involving a dangerous and dramatic backdrop. Her first novel, Hands Full of Ashes, was inspired by her trip to Africa.

Kim spent many years teaching young adults with learning disabilities at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and she currently resides in the sunny Okanagan with her husband and two children.
